John has extensive experience with complex commercial transactions and litigation in the areas of technology, cybersecurity, intellectual property, telecommunications, mergers and acquisitions, construction, and real estate.
In addition to his legal experience, John has held positions in engineering and operations departments of technology companies and has acted as outside general counsel for a variety of businesses. He has served as first-chair attorney in several multi-million dollar transactions and bet-the-company lawsuits, and been appointed by U.S. Bankruptcy Courts to Official Unsecured Creditors’ Committees.
John’s depth of experience gives him a unique perspective into the practical role that lawyers play in the success of a business. While supporting a wide range of business operations, including network security, technology infrastructure, financial operations, mergers and acquisitions, employment and executive compensation, and real estate, the guiding principle that governs his practice is understanding the practical implications that legal issues have on his clients’ success.
He has served on the State Bar of Montana’s Technology Committee and has been active in civic and community affairs. He received his law degree from the University of Montana School of Law in 1996 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Beloit College. He is admitted to practice in Montana and Texas.
